An Indian Solution to the Global Problem of Deforestation

Mandate
- Commission a series of singly-authored and co-authored books and journal editions on topics related to the Indian Century that convey India’s successes in a range of domains and offer policy recommendations for India to improve existing initiatives or launch new ones that will enhance the country’s prestige and importance in the world
- Administer a select number of Global India Visiting Fellowships to encourage foreign scholars to come and reside at JGU and contribute book-length manuscripts or working papers on emerging aspects of India’s governance, social innovation, digital transformation, economic reforms, scientific achievements, contributions to global public goods etc. These Fellowships will be awarded on the basis of merit and competitive applications from abroad.
- Solicit and publish regular opinion commentaries on the JII website by Indians and friends of India abroad on a variety of themes that bring to light lesser known dimensions of India’s democracy, economy, society, culture, science and technology, entrepreneurship, inclusiveness, rule-of-law, human rights, healthcare provision, environmental conservation, proactive foreign policy etc.
- Record and post regular video blogs on the JII website on different aspects of the Indian Century, particularly by Indian and international authors and experts.
- Organise an annual International Indian Century Conference on a major theme, with papers presented by foreign scholars that are appreciative of India’s domestic and international actions and accomplishments.
- Conduct joint workshops and lecture series on the Indian Century in partnership with likeminded India Institutes or Centres abroad that share a basic optimism about India’s rise as a force for good.
